Battle Tower

On this page

The Battle Tower is a competitive PvE challenge where you battle through increasingly difficult towers across multiple competitive Smogon tiers. Each battle features an NPC opponent with a dynamically generated party, and you can choose to play in either 4v4 or 6v6 formats.

Each of the five tiers has three towers containing eight floors each, with each successive tower & floor increasing in difficulty and :battle_point:Battle Point rewards. Progress towards the completion of each tier/tower persists throughout the season, so if you lose to a particular floor, your next attempt will resume at that same floor.

Seasons

After you defeat all 8 floors of a tower in a tier, that tower cannot be challenged again for the rest of the season. Seasons run for roughly two months and are aligned with the Gym Season cycle.

Season Completion

Defeating all three towers in all five tiers completes the season for you and awards the Completion Rewards. Every tower then reopens for one further pass, so the challenge stays available for the remainder of the season, on reduced terms:

  • :battle_point:Battle Points are cut to 50%, bonus points included.
  • Cooldowns are cut to 50% as well.
  • Wins, losses, and Battle Points no longer count toward your season record or the leaderboard. Progress on the second pass is tracked separately.
  • Battle Tower Badge progress stops, although Challenges tasks still count.

Completion Rewards are granted once and are not repeated. Clearing a tier's three towers a second time locks that tier again until the next season begins.

Cooldowns

A run ends either by clearing all eight floors or by losing a battle, and both outcomes start a cooldown. That cooldown is shared across the whole facility rather than held against a single tower, so it blocks every tier and every tower until it expires.

Outcome4v46v6
Tower defeated4h3h 36m
Floor lost2h1h 48m

6v6 battles carry a 10% cooldown reduction alongside their Battle Point bonus, and once you have completed the season every cooldown above is halved again.

Losing on any floor ends the run at once and starts the shorter cooldown. No progress is lost, so the next attempt resumes on the floor you were defeated on, and only clearing the eighth floor starts the longer one.

Master Mustard

Master Mustard is a rare Trainer who may take the place of the ordinary Trainer on the final floor of a tower. He may be encountered in any of the five tiers, in any of the three towers, and in both 4v4 and 6v6 battles.

Unlike every other Battle Tower opponent, his party is fixed rather than dynamically generated, and does not scale with the tower or the tier. He brings one of two teams chosen at random, one built around Single Strike Urshifu and the other around Rapid Strike Urshifu.

Whether he appears is decided when you begin a tower, not when you reach its final floor. Each tower carries a 1% chance of hosting him, rolled a single time, and the result is locked in for the remainder of that tower.

Defeating him completes the tower as normal and awards the final floor's usual :battle_point:Battle Points, along with a soulbound Isle of Armor Ticket, which begins a Kubfu Expedition.

Rewards

Victory Rewards

Defeating a floor awards a certain amount of :battle_point:Battle Points depending on the tower and floor, with 6v6 battles granting a 10% bonus.
